Advanced mobile phone payment system for public transport

Overview

mTram (sms&ride) is an advanced mobile phone payment system for public transport that introduces real advantages of mobile payment in the everyday public transportation. It enables increase of revenue of the public transport provider through easy-to-use mobile payment and efficient payment control through mTram enforcement.

Main Features

NO REGISTRATION - any mobile phone can be used, the user does not have to pre-register

NO SPECIAL ACCOUNT NEEDED - payment is made from the mobile phone account (prepaid / postpaid)

EASY TO USE - the user simply texts city code “xx” to the mTram SMS number: “nnnnn”

TEXT RECEIPT - the mTram system sends passenger an SMS receipt with a unique serial number (PIN number) to validate that payment has been made

REMINDER - the mTram system automatically sends an SMS reminder (FOC) to the passenger a few minutes before the ticket expires

NO SPECIAL EQUIPMENT NEEDED - payment is made with a standard mobile phone

NO CHANGES TO EXISTING EQUIPMENT - the system is totally independent of existing ticketing equipment and requires no special equipment or infrastructure

ENFORCEMENT - mTram inspector enters passenger’s ticket (PIN number) into handheld device (PocketPC or Mobile Phone) and sends request (in real time) to mTram centre where the status of requested PIN number is verified and the information about ticket validity is provided back to the inspector
